Cliffs after the jump…
In their opening briefs in the Viacom vs. YouTube lawsuit (which have been made public today), Viacom and plaintiffs claim that YouTube doesn’t do enough to keep their copyrighted material off the site.

Yep, just like they promised, youtube is now being flooded with adult videos disguised as disney pop-stars and cartoons. Some of the major news media, like BBC, have already reported this. Google was apparently aware of this and has been getting ready to remove videos asap, but I guess nothing can stop the power of [...]

It won’t affect your PS3, Wii, TiVo, or other licensed YouTube partners, but Google’s streaming video service will start blocking API access to TV-connected devices as of Dec. 2. The COO of set-top box maker Popcorn Hour writes that the firm tried to negotiate with YouTube to retain the service, but YouTube/Google seems to be [...]

Last week the world watched in wonder as Jill Peterson and Kevin Heinz’s wedding party transformed a familiar and predictable tradition into something spontaneous and just flat-out fun. The video, set to R&B star Chris Brown’s hypnotic dance jam “Forever,” became an overnight sensation, accumulating more than 10 million views on YouTube in less than [...]

We are approaching a time in our country where people are detained and forced to take chemical tests because they refuse to answer police questions. This officer allegedly lied about smelling alcohol. Ugh.

If you upload videos to YouTube and feel restricted by the 1GB limit, YouTube now offers 2GB of wiggle room as well as the ability to directly link to and embed high definition video.
To share a link that points directly to the HD version of a video, tack on “&hd=1″ to the end of the [...]

The video was assembled in Quicktime from 2000 still images taken by using a Nikon D700 in the “interval timer” mode. The camera was fastened to an outside rail and set to take a photo every six seconds. Quicktime then assembled the photos into a .mov file that plays back at 12 frames per second. [...]

Last night, Larry Lessig tweeted that Warner Music had sent a takedown notice to YouTube over one of his presentations, claiming that it infringed their copyright. Lessig, of course, is one of the nation’s leading legal scholars, particularly when it comes to fair use and electronic media. His presentations are filled with examples of companies [...]

This video is not slowed down. The movement of a magnet falling down a copper tube creates an electrical current around the tube, which exerts a slowing force on the magnet.

Are the TSA people really supposed to be acting as interstate customs agents? I thought they were just supposed to be security personnel. It seems like questioning on things like cash and drugs is taking time away from screening for the stuff you are supposed to be screening for. This is probably why the government [...]

I don’t get it… where’s the debate part? I just see Dr. Paul explaining in a rational way the merits of legalization and the stupidity of prohibition while Baldwin chimes in with tired, inaccurate anti-marijuana sound bites. I guess this “debate” is a microcosm of the whole issue.
