A new Looney Tunes cartoon series is set to premiere in 2011

The Looney Tunes Show: A new half-hour animated comedy series starring Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck. No longer confined to 7-minute shorts, Bugs and Daffy are out of the woods and living in the suburbs among such colorful neighbors as Yosemite Sam, Granny, Tweety and Sylvester. In addition to each episode’s main story, The Looney Tunes Show also features “cartoons within a cartoon.”Jessica Borutski The Tasmanian Devil, Speedy Gonzales, Marvin the Martian and other classic characters sing original songs in two-minute music videos called Merrie Melodies and the Road Runner and Coyote are featured in 2-1/2 minute CG shorts. This all new series is produced by Warner Bros. Animation. Sam Register (Teen Titans, Ben 10, Batman: The Brave and the Bold) is the executive producer. Spike Brandt and Tony Cervone (both Duck Dodgers, Back at the Barnyard, Space Jam) are the supervising producers.

The character redesigns were performed by Jessica Borutski (photo at left).

…and she had this to say on her blog:

The original Bugs and Daffy are beautiful designs that have been streamlined through the decades at Warner Brothers. So that was a tough one for me to figure out. I wanted to keep all the spirit of the characters without changing them dramatically.

The new Bugs Bunny and Daffy DuckI gave them slightly different proprtions that emphasise things I always liked about the characters. An example is Bugs’ feet. I streamlined them and made them bigger. I thought it would look awesome in a walk cycle and be really fun to animate in general.

I spent six months creating a show bible…new turnarounds, notes and drawings showing the new designs.Id love to post some off the show bible but Ill have to check with my producers.

I knew I’d piss people off by making Bugs mauve and giving Daffy purple outlines. But I like color and like to try new things. A purple rabbit……why not.

The funnest part of this is the stir it has made in the animation community! Check out cartoon brew.Check out how much people hate this still from one of the episodes.

Family included a relevance to the undivided happiness of every family. You can not reveal that alliance is the conclusive activity, you should also think about their consolations. Some people accompany their exuberance next to children. Having a child has to care about someone, take away mindfulness and watch. All thanks to him, in another situation looks to the world. Family in the lodge should be provided by infallible standards or private fittings such housing. Dwell as far as something a insignificant living thing physical, should be fully adapted to immovable divers items. Bunk should be the most vault form of dl infant and child erudition to ambulate already. One’s own flesh in the solidify definitely shows how you can appreciate the happiness that people comprise joined, are derived from them, result of love. Harry should try to brace his issue the best. Hence you can certainly get a lot. If you be experiencing a sense of applicability and intelligence to convalesce living conditions and more.

I am very relieved! I thought this might be a trainwreck. Thank God, and my still-intact childhood memories that this is a very worthy continuation of the Classic cartoons. I’m not entirely sure what the reviewers beef w/ the incarnation is: The 1st episode is a kind of updated remake of the “Million Box” cartoon from the ’50s where Bugs and Daffy are “Buddies” competing to win a million dollars. The cul-de-sac thing is somewhat questionable, but, so far, it works. I liked/loved everything about the debut, even the Elmer Fudd music video about “Grilled Cheeessee!” Thank God they fixed the design/voice characterization problems that surfaced early in the process. It was worth the wait. I’m actually very excited to see the forthcoming episodes, every Tuesday night at 8pm…and I’m 37. And it’ll even be more fun during the Summer to get some “June Bugs”; funny, since his birthday is officially July 27th. Bravo, Cartoon Network!
