TOSBack Monitors Terms of Service Changes to Google, Facebook, and 42 Others

Tosback

Facebook’s new terms of service brought to light the serious privacy concerns that changes to user agreements can bring about. Web site TOSBack monitors 44 web sites, including YouTube, Facebook, and others, and informs you as changes are made.

Launched by digital rights non-profit the Electronic Frontier Foundation, TOSBack.org lets you view a real-time feed of changes and updates to select web sites, which includes notables like Flickr, Google, and Amazon. Clicking on an update shows you a side-by-side before-and-after comparison that details what terms have been removed from the policy (highlighted in blue) and what, if anything, has been added (highlighted in yellow).

The site also tells you the date and approximate time when the changes were made and lists the most recent TOS changes on its home page. You can also find a list of highlighted policies there.

Fair warning: The site is by no means complete or foolproof, so you should always cross-check by going to the source. Having said that, TOSBack.org is a useful resource for those looking to more closely monitor their online rights.
